Where I can be me.

1. Where can it be held?
I think a good place for it to help in would be my living room. Although its generic, its the only place that holds a lot of strong memories for me.
2. Two strong memories in my living room are when I first started watching The Walking Dead and Breaking Bad. And also its the first place I ever bit into a pulled pork sandwich. The reason most of these memories aren't that fantastic is because I am not as an amazing person as Oprah puts me out to be. Actually, I have no clue why Oprah would ever want to interview me.
3. It reflects my personality because most things found in a living room are inanimate and don't move around. I don't like to move around. I like to stay still and look at the TV.
4. Magazines, Newspapers, Laptops which can access all kinds of web-based texts, text on a TV screen, posters arranged around the room.

My favourite book this semester

My favourite book this semester was Maze Runner by James Dashner. I liked this book the best due to the fact that it pulls you in after reading it for only five minutes, and never wants to let go. It was almost as if I was attached to the book. The characters were all unique, the setting was spectacular and James Dashner used imagery very well to express just how colossal everything was, and to top it off, the story was fantastic! Every time a chapter ended there was something brand new and exciting  to make you want to read more. I never wanted to stop reading this book.

Due to the sheer awesomeness and fantastic use of literary devices I would have to give it a 9 out of 10. Not a full ten because sometimes I felt it difficult to connect with the main character.

Short Fiction Reflection

Yes, probably because of my short attention span. They are small, charming, and get to the point.

I enjoyed most of the stories.

They were the shortest ones. They didn't involve a bunch of reading. Not that I don't like reading, but I when you're expecting a short fiction story and get a long one it disappoints you.

They were all long.

Socratic Circles

I would say that overall, we did well. Other than Joe not speaking as much as he should have, we had decent conversations and everyone brought thoughtful questions that we discussed.

I felt that I talked enough and had a good question. I addressed many things, tried to get everyone involved in the discussion, and brought up insightful points. Maybe a weakness was I didn't try to get all my ideas out there when I felt that I should have.

I felt prepared. I knew my question and the characters in the story well. Maybe reading the story more than once might have benefited me.

I noticed that every other group were not only discussing things intellectually, but they were actually enjoying themselves. Jokes were thrown about, people were laughing, people were really focused and having a good time. Isn't that what its all about?

The question I would have liked to add is, was it a true story?

I do think so because it allows for us to get all of our pent up questions and thoughts about the things we are reading, rather than keeping them to ourselves.

The golden mean for responsibility is dealing with your duties and obligations, but not prioritizing them over things that are more important.

Excess: Overworked, burdened, pushy

Deficiency: Lazy, unmotivated, untrustworthy

Big Tom has a deficiency of responsibility because he was responsible for his kid's health, but wouldn't deal with it right away. This was due to him being too concerned about money and other problems, when he should have been more concerned about the obligation of caring for his child.

Mary has an excess of responsibility because she was working and doing other tasks when she could have been caring for her baby. She put her tasks before what mattered, the kid.

Mr. Cooper has the Golden Mean of responsibility because when him and Tom were fishing, he realized that the baby's health was more important than fishing, and acted. He was able to do what really mattered, instead of dealing with his other duties.

The driver has an excess because instead of doing what mattered, driving Tom to the hospital, she did what she needed to do, which was dropping off her kids.

Just Lather Thats All ~ Integrity

Based on the events of Just Lather Thats All, I can define the Golden Mean of Integrity as being true to yourself in situations that call for it, but not to stay true to yourself when the outcome could possibly be bad. The barber shows the golden mean of integrity because he was true to himself enough to stand up for his rights by being a rebel. But didn't take that too far by killing the opposite team's leader and possibly ruining the cause they are fighting for.

The Captain Torres fits in to the excess of integrity because he did what would probably kill him just because his inner morals were too high and he was too true to himself which caused for possible harm to him.

The golden mean of Loyalty

                                                                The Golden Mean

The Golden Mean is a balance of good and evil, bad and fair, light and darkness. When it comes to character virtue, the definition of The Golden Mean is this:

A preferred balance between too much of a virtue, and not enough of a virtue.

When it comes to loyalty there are different phases. Too little, The Golden Mean, and too much. An example of a character with too little loyalty is the hyenas from the lion king.
The hyenas from lion king have too little loyalty because they never listen to scar enough, who is their leader. They show that having little loyalty means you don't listen, and defy higher power.

The character that has too much loyalty is  members of the Charles Manson cult.
The Charles Manson cult is the perfect example of people with too much loyalty because they were told to kill other humans in cold blood because some crazy hippie with a Gandalf beard told them to. They didn't measure the consequences, they put way too much loyalty into Manson, and they payed the price.

The Golden Mean of loyalty is Samwise Gamgee.
Samwise shows the Golden Mean of loyalty because he shows loyalty towards frodo without being too attached but at the same time being committed to him enough to push him through to the end. He showed perseverance when accompanying his friend and stayed loyal to save him from certain death.
